Read: James 4:7-10
James says the remedy to selfish living is to give in to God's way of life.
In the beginning of the letter, James explains that temptations are the baits the devil holds up to our desires. That's why when we give in and submit to living God's way, when we substitute our selfish desires with what God wants, we become untemptable to the devil.
Of course, living God's way is easier said than done. And neither is God expecting us to clench teeth and "just do it". When we make a decision to live God's way, James says, God is quick to come around us and supply the resource we need to actually live that way.
In fact, God is standing by to forgive us and remake us if we would admit our failure and inability to live God's way. James instructs us to repent, grieve at how we have messed up, and recommit to living God's way again.

Think about your faith story: how well are you substituting God's desires
for your own?
Presently, how well are you living the life God designs for you to live?
In what ways you need to repent and recommit to God?

What
is God saying to you today?
Talk to God about your experience with being transformed by his Spirit, and your struggles to live unselfishly.
Talk to God about the areas where you struggle to live God's way.
Tell God about the failures you feel regretful about. Ask God for forgiveness and the resources to recommit and start over.
Pray for an experience of God's love, grace and mercy as God forgives you and draws near to you, and give you resources to love his way.
