Read: James 3:17-18
James says there are two wisdoms, two ways of life that competes within us.
The first way for life is a selfish one, to advance what is good for us at all cost. When we live this way, our actions are chosen based on our fears, our pains, the things that threaten us.
The other way - God's way, is honest, brings harmony to relationships, looks after others' interests, willing to put others first, quick to forgive, generous in blessing, does not play favorites, and genuine.
In God's way of life, relationships matter. When we live God's way, we are prepared to lose in order for our relationships to win. James says when we live like this, we are on track of the life God wants for us.
Write
Think about your faith story: how import are relationships to you? How do
your decisions reflect the importance of your relationships?
Presently, how is God making you more relational? Which aspect of "God's way of life" are you working on with God's help?
Which relationship in your life needs you to live more God's way?
Pray
What
is God saying to you today?
Talk to God about how you are living life his way. Ask God how well you are honouring the relationships he has given you.
Talk to God about the way he is changing you. Ask God for to show you how his way of life can deepen and strengthen your friendships.
Ask God for the wisdom to know how you can make different choices in your relationships so the relationship can win.
Pray for an experience of God's love, grace and mercy as the Spirit coaches you into living God's way, and as you reap the blessing of better friendships.
