Read: Exodus 27:20-21

God asks Moses to build him a tent - the "tabernacle", so he can be present with his people.  Now God gives instructions on the maintenance of the oil lamps.

God demands that only the best olive oil is used for the lamps.  And he instructs the priests to keep the lamps burning all night.

We have said earlier that the light of lampstands are symbols of God's teaching - his wisdom and truth as revealed through Scriptures and spokespersons.

Today, we are the priests who are expected to keep God's light of truth lit by the way we live his instructions and values in the dim-ness of the world.  As long as there is spiritual darkness, and people trying to find their way through darkness, being God's light is still a 24/7 job.  We don't take a vacation from being God's child and blessing agents, just as people who need God don't take a break from their brokenness and fears.

Think about your faith story: whose light guided you to God?  How have you experienced God's light in the world?

In your life presently, how well are you keeping Jesus's light burning? What are things and people who tries to distinguish your light?

Who do you know is trying to find their way out of the dark of their lives?

Pray
What is God saying to you today? What's Good News to you?

Talk to God about your experience of spiritual light in darkness.  Thank God for the faithful lights he sent your way, and for the people who brought that light.

Pray about the intensity of your light.  Ask God for the wisdom and support to shine authentically and faithfully for people who rely on it.

Pray for the people who are depending on your light. Ask God for the wisdom and opportunity to love and bless them.

Pray for an experience of God's love, grace and mercy in the way he keeps your light bright, and the way he uses your light to bless and guide the people in your world.
