God asks Moses to build him a tent - the "tabernacle", so he can be present with his people. Now God gives a list of the furntiure for his tent.
Next, there is are seven lamplstands made of gold that lights the front of the tent.
Light helps us see. Light is a symbol of what God gives us to help us see the world the way he sees it - wisdom through Scripture, his spokespersons, his Spirit. His light is the knowledge he reveals to us about who he is, who we are to him, what we are as he made us, our estrangement to him, the consequences of a world that ignores him, and the way to be reconciled to God.
And in God's tent, there is always light for the visitor who is trying to make sense of their lives in the world. Jesus says, "I am the light of world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."
