Read: Exodus 20:15

If you've been keeping track, God has so far indicated that he cares about our life (no murder), our love (no adultery), and now our stuff (no stealing).

Just as free life is not possible for a Hebrew if he has to worry about his wife every time he goes to work, free life is not possible if he has to worry about someone breaking into his house. For anyone who has suffered a break-in, they know that you don't just lose your stuff, you also lose your sense of well being.  Break-in's are very violating.

So while God is not fond of people who hoard stuff, he is understanding of our need for stuff, and to own some stuff. And he instructs neighbours to be respectful of other people's stuff.

Think about your faith story: how have your experienced the violation of personal property and space?

Presently, what are your most prized possessions?  In what ways you fear being robbed?  What kind of pre-cautions do you take to protect yourselves from thievery?

Who do you know is worried about their possessions?

Pray
What is God saying to you today? What's Good News to you?

Talk to God about your attitude towards your stuff.  Thank God for the way he gives you the right to own stuff, and the way he gives you all you have.

Pray about the things you own.  Do you have more than you need?  What can you do to simplify your possessions?  What do you need to protect what you do have?

Pray for the person you know who is worried about their stuff.  Pray for the wisdom and opportunity to walk with and support your friend.

Pray for an experience of God's love, grace and mercy in the way God blesses you with things, and the way he blesses others with your things.
