Read: Exodus 16:1-15

A most important lesson in the wilderness is to lean on God for the everyday things.

As the Hebrews complain about the meager rations in the wilderness, God seizes on another teaching moment.  He tells them he will supply bread in the morning and meat at night - on the condition that they collect only what they can eat.

Perhaps there is a health reason for this instruction - they are no ice boxes in the wilderness.  But more importantly, this is a faith lesson. They are not to rely on the bread or meat.  Instead, they are to rely on the God who supplies the bread or meat.  God promises a fresh supply of nourishment everyday.  They are to learn to trust God that he will in fact supply it.

Think about your faith story: how have you experienced the way God supplied you with fresh provisions?

in your life presently, how much of your security comes from trusting God, and how much from trusting you own ability to earn and save?

Who do you know is struggling to trust God for fresh provisions?

Pray
What is God saying to you today? What's Good News to you?

Talk to God about the ways he earns your trust.  Thank God for the way he is faithful to give you fresh provisions everyday.

Pray about the sources of securities in your life presently.  Ask God for the help you need, the reassureance of his presence, and the courage to rely on him more than what he give you..

Pray for your friend who is struggling to trust God.  Ask God to give you the opportunity to support your friend in their faith lessons.

Pray for an experience of God's love, grace and mercy in the way he earns your trust, and the way he promises to take care of you.
