The Nile is the life blood of Egyptian culture. With its water undrinkable, animal life itself is now threathened.
It is now about 10 days into the eco-disaster. The fifth plague brings about death of livestock, which are suffering from dehydration and malnutrition. The next day brings about the sixth plague, which inflicts humans with skin ulcers.
When Pharaoh summons his magicians, none came. Because they too have come down with the disease. Yet Pharaoh stubbornly remains defiant to God.
And once again, the Hebrews are spared from the disasters.
