Read: Exodus 3:7-11

God makes Moses a job offer - to be the point-person in negotiating the Hebrews slaves' freedom, because God has heard their cries for help.  God wants Moses to be the guy to deal with Pharaoh, to guide the slaves across the wilderness to some property that God has picked out for them to settle in so as to become a nation.

Suddenly, Moses' life starts to make sense in light of this job description:  his Egyptian upbringing, his familiarity with wilderness life.  More amazingly, Moses was supposed to be dead - drown by royal decree in the Nile.  But God picked him out of the river, preserved him and had specifically prepared him for this mission, this moment.

It turns out God hasn't been passively watching at all.  He has a plan all along and he's been patiently propelling it forward, waiting for Moses to be ready.  And today, Moses is ready.

But Moses doesn't see in himself what God sees.  "Why me?' he says.  After all, he is a wanted man in Egypt; the Hebrews rejected him. This job is nothing in it for him.  At worst, it is a suicide mission.

But God has no plan "B".  There is no understudy, no back up baby he pulled from the Nile.  "No" is not an answer God can accept today.
